What is Wildstar?
WildStar is an massively multiplayer online adventure game where you make your mark as explorer, soldier, scientist, or settler and lay claim to a mysterious planet on the edge of known space.
WildStar has a unique and iconic visual style - think Pixar meets World of Warcraft in space - to create a blend of sci-fi and fantasy genres in a world that utilizes technology, psychic powers, and magic, sometimes all at once.
Players are immersed in a deep world stacked with content, challenges and rewards that respond to the play style choices of individual players. Depending on a combination of faction, race, class, and path, WildStar will present gamers with unending surprises, mini-quests and challenges, ensuring that their experiences are fun and fresh.
The 'What is Wildstar' video gives a flavour of what to expect from what looks like being the big MMO of 2013:
A place to rest your head
While players won't be able to build personal homes on Nexus' surface, they will be able to own and customize a plot of land that floats above it, and invite other players to their land.
Your plot of land will start out pretty basic, but as you adventure you'll be able to expand and customize to build up virtual mansions. The cool thing is, these houses aren't just there for eye-candy and self-expression, they provide game play benefits.
Most everyone who plays MMORPGs is familiar with the concept of resting at an inn to increase how fast you get XP. WildStar not only gives you the most rest XP when you sleep off your adventures at home, but also gives you more rest XP the more stuff you have in your house. There's an incentive to collection and customization.
Players will also be able to turn their home into a base of operations for whatever they enjoy most in MMORPGs. Like to craft? Your land can have a mine for ore and crafting bench on it. If you're into raids and dungeons, place a personal raid portal that gives you a buff for using it.
